Radon has been identified as a gas created by the decomposition of minerals beneath the earth's soil. It has been connected to respiratory illnesses and health issues.
It is the concentration of radon in a house that is the issue. The maximum allowable limit of radon is 4 picocuries per liter. Any levels of radon that are below the 4 pCi/L are considered to be acceptable by EPA health guidelines. If the levels exceed 4 pCi/L, then it is recommended that a radon mitigation system be installed to reduce the levels.
