Program to Identify Likely Victims of Radon-Related Lung Cancer; Survivors Commit to Risk Reduction Despite Failed Government Policy

Date Published: 01/13/2009 [Source]

After a story about radon-related lung cancer in Minnesota captured thousands of viewers, the Minnesota legislature passed a law requiring radon-resistant construction in all new homes.

Similar legislation was passed in Illinois.

However, this is unusual because many people are unaware of the risks of radon.

Current government policies do not appear to be effective at raising awareness.

CanSAR (Cancer Survivors Against Radon) is partnering with AARST (American Association of Radon Scientists and Technologists) to educate the public about the dangers of radon.

If you ore a family member has recently been diagnosed with lung cancer, AARST will send you a free radon test.
