Reducing the risk of lung cancer caused by radon is the goal of a bill Rep. Ted Koffman, D-Bar Harbor, proposed Tuesday to the Natural Resources Committee.
Specifically, LD 109 would establish a uniform model residential building code and radon standard for new home construction based on guidelines from the American Society for Testing and Materials.
