The New Mexico Environment Department is urging residents and businesses to test for radon gas as part of Radon Action Month in January.
The NMED provides free radon test kits for people who are willing to share their test results with the department and participate in a statewide radon survey. Radon is a naturally occurring radioactive gas that can filter into homes and other structures from the soil.
