The state Department of Environmental Services has found high levels of radon, a radioactive gas, in a basement room of the Lyndeborough Central School and in the Grade 4 classroom above it.

The two-week DES test found the average level in the basement room to be 10 picoCuries per liter of air (pCi/L), well above the four pCi/L level at which the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency recommends mitigation.
