RADON FUNDS: The U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development has pledged to seek a "record amount" of money from Congress to combat environmental hazards like radon gas. The commitment follows a November investigation by The Oregonian/OregonLive that showed many housing authorities are failing to test public housing for radon, the second-leading cause of lung cancer in America.
