Predicting earthquakes: are we there yet?


The recent earthquake in Italy was preceded by a prediction of an earthquake occurrence based on radon levels, albeit a week earlier and 50 kilometers away from the actual site.

Many scientists remain skeptical about earthquake prediction, including but not limited to measuring radon levels in order to foresee these events.
