Beware of radon in the home


30% of tested homes in Carson City have elevated radon levels, as compared to 22% of homes tested across Nevada.

You can purchase the kit from a hardware store or pick one up for free (until March) at your local University of Nevada Cooperative Extension (UNCE) office.

University of Nevada Cooperative Extension's Radon Education Program is conducting three free public meetings for Nevada residents: 7-8 p.m. Jan. 22 at Washoe County Library, Incline Village branch, 845 Alder Ave. 7-8 p.m. Jan. 28 at the Sheridan Volunteer Fire Department, 980 Sheridan Lane, in Gardnerville 7-8 p.m. Jan. 29, at Tahoe Regional Planning Agency, 128 Market St., in Stateline.
