In a recent University of Wisconsin Population Health Institute report, Waupaca, Outagamie, Calumet, and Winnebago counties were listed as having higher than average risk for elevated radon levels in the state. Radon, which is the leading cause of lung cancer in nonsmokers, often depends on geography, but can vary within regions. In the Fox Valley region, 65-70% of tested homes return high readings.
